Our Margarita Recipe (With a Pinot Noir twist)
There’s something special about taking a familiar classic and giving it a seasonal twist. The Pinot Noir Margarita does exactly that, blending the bright, zesty character of a traditional marg with the soft fruit depth of Pinot Noir for a drink that feels both unexpected and effortlessly balanced. Perfect for late afternoons, long dinners, or those in-between moments when you want something a little more interesting in your glass.
Ingredients
- All you need is:
- 1 1/2 shots tequila
- 1 shot fresh lime juice
- 3/4 shot maple syrup (or syrup of your choice)
- 1/2 shot Rabbit Ranch Pinot Noir
- Ice
How to Make It
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add tequila, lime juice, maple syrup, and Pinot Noir. Shake well until the mix is properly chilled. Strain into a glass over fresh ice. Sip and enjoy the autumn magic.
Why It Works
This isn’t just a margarita with wine added, it’s a thoughtful balance of flavour. The richness of Pinot Noir softens the sharp citrus edge of lime, adding a layer of juicy red fruit complexity you don’t get in a traditional marg. Maple syrup brings a warm, rounded sweetness that leans into cooler seasons, while still keeping things light and drinkable. Then the tequila steps in to hold everything together, giving the cocktail its backbone and signature kick. Using Rabbit Ranch Pinot Noir brings a distinctly Central Otago character, bright, expressive fruit with a playful, easy-drinking style that lifts the whole drink.
Serve It Your Way
Salt rim for a classic margarita edge, cinnamon sugar rim for a cosy, autumn-inspired twist, or no rim at all for something simple, clean, and wine-forward. However you serve it, the Pinot Noir Marg is all about contrast: fresh yet rich, playful yet structured, familiar yet just different enough to make it memorable.
